What's it all about?
Celebrate transformation and support second chances through entrepreneurship.
The Business Pitch Competition is the final event of Defy's Virtual Entrepreneurship Bootcamp—a program where formerly incarcerated Entrepreneurs in Training (EITs) develop business ideas while building leadership, confidence, and community. EITs present their business ideas in a Shark Tank-style competition to panels of volunteer judges. Judges ask clarifying questions, provide feedback to strengthen the business concepts and pitches, and evaluate the overall presentations with their fellow judges to select competition winners. At the end of the session, winning pitches are selected from the group.
As a volunteer, you'll play a powerful role in this culminating moment. You will:
Offer feedback on EITs' business pitches
Ask thoughtful questions and help shape strong ideas
Celebrate EITs' journeys during a moving virtual graduation ceremony
Your presence sends a clear message: their stories, ideas, and futures matter. This is an inspiring and interactive event you won't forget.
