Please join us on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 1 pm PT for the Defy WA CEOYNL Community - Business Pitch Competition and Graduation!

What's it all about?

Business pitch competition and graduations are the culminating events for EITs as they complete Defy's rigorous CEO YNL program. During these events, EITs present their business ideas in several rounds of a Shark Tank-style competition to panels of volunteer judges. Judges ask clarifying questions, provide feedback to strengthen the business concepts and pitches, and evaluate the overall presentations with their fellow judges to select competition winners. The event also includes icebreaker and empathy-building exercises designed to create an inclusive and accepting community. At the end of the day, three winning pitches are selected from the group in an awards ceremony, followed by a cap and gown graduation ceremony in which EITs are awarded a Certificate of Entrepreneurship issued by the Drucker School of Management. Join us in celebrating the EITs as they graduate from this first step of their entrepreneurial journey with Defy!

Please note: This is an in-person event, and in order to keep everyone safe, all volunteers will need to show proof of Covid vaccination. Masks will be required of all participants during the event. Acceptable forms of vaccination proof can include: vaccination card (can be a copy or photo on the phone), or a digital record provided by a state agency.

What's it all about?

Defy Ventures WA is hosting a hike! Please join Defy WA staff and EITs in a day of community outdoors. The family-friendly Coal Creek Falls Trail is 2.5 miles roundtrip and is considered fairly easy. We invite you to join us in a day outdoors to get to know Defy EITs who have returned home and other volunteers as we learn more about each other's work and experiences, and build community together, outdoors! We will hike as a community and enjoy a picnic lunch together afterward provided by Defy.

We'll practice social distancing. Bring your water bottles, sunscreen, and comfortable shoes. Feel free to bring your family and friends, too! This trail is dog-friendly.

Defy WA - Business Coaching, Pitch Competition and Graduation

Please join us on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 1 pm PT for the Seattle - Defy WA CEOYNL Community  - Business Pitch Competition and Graduation for cohort 1!

What's it all about?

Business Pitch Competitions (BPCs) are the culminating events for hard-working EITs completing the CEO of Your New Life - Community program. During a BPC, Entrepreneurs In Training (EITs) will present their business ideas in several rounds of a Shark Tank-style competition to panels of business leaders and investors. The event also includes Defy's signatures icebreaker and empathy-building exercises designed to create an inclusive and accepting community. At the end of the day, three winning pitches are selected from the group in an awards ceremony, followed by a cap and gown graduation ceremony. 

At this event, we will also have EITs who are mid-way through the program who will be receiving coaching on resumes, personal statements, and their business concepts.
